Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong Contributes to Greener Future

  • 374

With an ongoing commitment to protecting the environment, Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong has partnered with EcoMatcher to help green the planet by offering guests the opportunity to plant a tree just by enjoying the forest-inspired afternoon tea or having a forest therapy spa treatment throughout the month of April.

EcoMatcher works with vetted foundations and smallholder farmers from around the world that specialise in tree planting. With a unique QR code for every tree, guests can virtually travel to their tree through satellite maps and learn about its precise location, the tree species, the carbon sequestration of the tree, and the farmer who is taking care of it on their digital device.

In celebration of this new green initiative, executive pastry chef Christophe Sapy has created a forest-inspired afternoon tea. The assortment of delicate desserts include milk chocolate and salted caramel mousse, pistachio and strawberry tartlet as the hotel’s signature 1963 Mandarin cheesecake.

The hotel’s green ambition continues at the award-winning Mandarin Spa with a new forest therapy treatment. More info, mandarinoriental.com

Sue Ann is a blogger par excellence, and professional writing pretty much consumes her life. Her time gets split pretty evenly between travel and being a mum, and she does both equally well. Sue Ann has been working or studying in journalism in some form or another for most of her life, and her self-professed travel addiction has seen her travel across North America, Europe and Australia among others. A selfish traveller would keep her raucous experiences to herself, whereas Sue Ann shares the fun via her regularly (and some would say obsessively!) updated blog Camels & Chocolate with good photography peppered throughout.
