Spend the Day in Hong Kong
If you happen to have a stopover between flights in Hong Kong or have one day to spare when close by, then be sure to make the most of it! Hong Kong is a very big city, and no matter how long the stay, you will most definitely have too little time to explore it all. However, even if you only have 24 hours you can still enjoy it to its fullest. We make things a bit easier for you and gathered the best of the best to make sure you will have seen and experienced as much as you possibly can in such little time!
早上好 or Good Morning
Start your day bright and early in the heart of Kowloon and begin your day of exploring with a stroll along the iconic Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade, where you will be greeted by the breathtaking skyline of Hong Kong Island. At this time of day, when the morning sun casts its glow upon the city, you will understand why this view is renowned as one of the most picturesque in the world.

After taking in the views, head to a local eatery to spoil yourself with a traditional Hong Kong breakfast. There are a variety of mouthwatering delicacies such as fluffy pineapple buns, silky congee, and crispy egg waffles (personally my favorite) – the perfect fuel for a day full of exploration.
After, hopefully, having had a delicious and filling breakfast, you are feeling energized. It is time for a cultural journey through the labyrinthine streets of Kowloon. Navigate your way to Wong Tai Sin Temple, this is a serene oasis amidst the busy urban city. Here you will be sure to see intricate architecture covered in vibrant colors and elaborate carvings. Take in the calm and quite atmosphere as you witness worshippers lighting incense and offering prayers.

From here it is just a short drive to Chin Lin Nunnery and Nan Lian Garden, a hidden gem nestled in between towering skyscrapers. This is a classical Chinese garden, containing bonsai trees, koi ponds, and waterfalls. A garden like this should not be missed when in Hong Kong.
下午好 or Good afternoon

By now you must feel pretty hungry, I know I would, so it is time to treat your taste buds to a culinary adventure through the busy streets of Mong Kok. Here a sea of street food stalls and hawkers’ markets await you. You will be greeted by an array of different aromas and flavors. Some of my favorite dishes to recommend are their steaming hot dim sum, crispy roast pork and/or fragrant noodles, which are stir fried to perfection. These are some of my must tries and I grantee you will leave here feeling full and energized again.
If you are in for some retail therapy, Mong Kok not only has food markets but also stalls where they sell clothing and good souvenirs. In this maze you will find stalls selling everything from trendy fashion finds to funny and unique souvenirs and trinkets. This is absolutely worth your time even if you are just roaming around.

If you would rather visit a mall, let it be Festival Walk! First and foremost, this mall has more than 200 retail shops and restaurants to choose from, both local favorites and high-end brands. But that is not all, on top of this, this mall also contains a skating rink on the top floor along with a cinema and large glass windows from where you can see the views of Lion Rock. This is absolutely an amazing place to see in person.
晚上好 or Good evening

If you want to finish your day similar to how you started it, make your way to Victoria Peak as the sun begins to set. Take a seat aboard the iconic Peak Tram and take off to the top. This is the highest point on Hong Kong Island and breathtaking sunset with panoramic views of the cityscape awaits you here. As this is a popular designation there are waiting times which can extend to more than two hours for the tram. Because your time is precious here, I suggest taking the bus to the top, if the queue is too long!
If you are still up for it, after sunset, descend from the peak and immerse yourself in Hong Kong’s vibrant nightlife scene. Head to Lan Kwai Fong, the city’s premier entertainment district, here you can find an infinite amount of bars, clubs, and restaurants. One of my favorite types of restaurants is where you can eat hot pot, it is so much fun to do and the foods are amazing! You can also sip on a signature cocktail like ‘The Gunner’ or try milk tea, one of the most common drinks.

As your one-day adventure comes to a close it is time to pack your things and head back to continue your journey. Though, you might still be thinking that one day is too short, in its essence this is very true, however if you happen to be close by and still want to fit it in your schedule somehow, we have got you covered! With careful planning and a spirit for adventure, you can experience the core of Hong Kong in a whirlwind of excitement and wonder. These 24 hours should not go to waste and with your need for exploration and our help it doesn’t have to.
