Exploring the Natural Herbs, Flowers, and Vegetables Garden at Homm Saranam Baturiti

  • 572

Surrounded by the nature’s beauty, Homm Saranam Baturiti features a vast garden spanning an impressive 6,340 square meters, home to more than 120 varieties of plants. The garden offers guests a sensory journey through herbs, vegetables, and flowers, all while embracing the majestic views of Batukaru, Sanghyang, Poheng, and Adeng Mountains.

Serves as both an example of sustainable gardening techniques and a work of art. Water flows smoothly across the land, sustained by the Subak Banga irrigation system, promoting plant growth, controlling weeds, and preserving this priceless resource.

An assortment of herbs, vegetables, and flowers coexist in this lush paradise, resulting in a wonderful tapestry of flavors, scents, and colors. Peas, arugula, beetroot, chaisim, leek, lettuce (both green and red), radish, and other vegetables are among the many that are grown. The harvest is used in the resort’s kitchen and bar, giving patrons access to locally grown and fresh ingredients for their delectable dishes.

An abundance of fragrant herbs, such as turmeric, ginger, basil, galangal, curcuma, mint leaves, and many more, can also be found in the garden. Through the Crafting Balinese Traditional Drink activity, the resort invites guests to get hands-on experience by taking them on a tour of the gardens and allowing them to harvest ingredients for their drinks.

A variety of flowers, including roses, heliconias, anthuriums, lilies, Hydrangea (bunga pecah seribu), and Impatiens balsamina (bunga pacar), add a burst of color and scent to the garden. Using organic compost and minimizing the use of pesticides, this dynamic environment is meticulously maintained. The garden flourishes while maintaining the natural harmony thanks to its dedication to eco-friendly methods.

One of the distinctive plants found is the Ice Cream Bean tree, which is well-known in the area for its smooth, sugary, and snow-like texture. This fruit, also known as “buah salju” or snow fruit, has become synonymous with the Bedugul region. The tree grows well in the garden, providing guests an opportunity to see, taste, and discover this local delicacy.

The garden of Homm Saranam Baturiti is a center for activities with the goal of captivating guests in the beauty of nature as well as a feast for the senses. Creating Canang Sari with water blessings, taking garden tours, making traditional Balinese drinks, are a few of the activities that connect guests with the treasures of the garden.
