Sarawak Comes Alive: A Carnival of Culture, Cuisine & Connection in Singapore

  • 6595

This October, Singapore’s Suntec City Atrium Convention Centre will transform into a living tapestry of Borneo’s soul. From October 16 to 19, the Sarawak Mega Fair 2025 invites visitors to step into the heart of Malaysia’s most culturally diverse state—without leaving the city.

Held across Tower 1 & 2, the fair is more than a showcase—it’s a celebration. With free entry and doors open from 11AM to 10PM daily, the event promises an immersive journey through Sarawak’s lush landscapes, indigenous heritage, and culinary treasures.

Culture in Motion

The fair’s centerpiece, the Sarawak Carnival and Gastronomy, brings together over 50 exhibitors, from travel agents and artisans to food vendors and eco-tourism advocates. Expect rhythmic sape and nose flute performances, traditional tattoo artistry, and songket weaving—all live and interactive.

Don’t miss the Sarawak Unity Dance, set to the beloved Iban anthem Bekikis Bulu Betis by Andrewson Ngalai—a song that pulses through Sarawakian celebrations.

Visitors can pose with Sarawak warriors and maidens, test their knowledge in trivia games, and win exclusive souvenirs that carry the spirit of the rainforest.

A Living Museum

Among the standout exhibitors is the Sarawak Cultural Village, which will recreate its “living museum” concept—a community where staff and performers live, work, and raise families in devotion to preserving Sarawak’s traditions. Visitors will glimpse into ethnic homes including the Bidayuh and Iban longhouses, Penan hut, Orang Ulu longhouse, Melanau tall house, Malay house, and Chinese farmhouse, all arranged around a tranquil man-made lake.

Trade Meets Travel

Organised by the Sarawak Government, with support from MINTRED and STATOS, the fair also serves as a strategic platform for tourism partnerships. Trade visitors can engage directly with product owners such as Borsarmulu Resort, Sarawak Forestry Corporation, Penan Women Project, and Sarawak Golf Tourism Association, among others. Around 10 Sarawak-based tour operators will be present, seeking to forge new ties with Singapore’s travel market and inspire fresh wanderlust.

Mark your Calendar!

Whether you’re a curious traveller, a cultural enthusiast, or a trade professional scouting year-end holiday options, the Sarawak Mega Fair 2025 offers a rare chance to experience the depth and diversity of Sarawak—right in the heart of Singapore.

Come for the music, stay for the stories, and leave with a piece of Sarawak in your heart.
